A client within the Public Sector based in Leicestershire County is currently recruiting for a Senior Planning Enforcement Officer to join their Planning & Development Team as soon as possible.
The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority planning or enforcement environment.

The Role Key purpose of the role is to lead on planning enforcement matters across the district, supervising day-to-day operations of the enforcement team and ensuring that breaches of planning control are effectively investigated and resolved in accordance with legislation and council policy.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Undertake inspections and monitoring visits to assess compliance with planning permissions and investigate alleged breaches of planning control.
• Draft enforcement reports, notices, and statements for appeals, public inquiries, and legal proceedings.
• Lead and support the planning enforcement team, providing specialist advice to colleagues, the Team Leader and Team Manager.
• Take appropriate enforcement action against unauthorised developments and ensure compliance with relevant planning legislation.
• Represent the Council at enforcement appeals, public inquiries, and in court when required.
• Support the monitoring and compliance of Section 106 (S106) agreements.
• Provide clear advice and guidance to customers, developers, and elected members on planning enforcement matters.
• Support other staff within the Environmental Protection and Planning Teams as required.

The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• Eligibility to work in the UK.
• A full UK driving licence.
• Proven experience of planning enforcement, general enforcement, or determination of planning applications with demonstrable enforcement knowledge.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Strong knowledge and awareness of planning enforcement legislation, regulations, and procedures.
• Excellent communication and report-writing skills with the ability to present evidence clearly.
• Confident, resilient, and capable of managing sensitive and sometimes contentious enforcement cases.
• Ability to analyse complex situations, assess evidence, and make reasoned recommendations.
• Experience supervising or mentoring team members.

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such is offering £38 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £30 per hour PAYE).
