Highways Inspector
A client within the Public Sector based in Cambridgeshire is currently recruiting for a Highway Development Management Inspector to join their Highway Development Management team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a highway construction environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role is to inspect and manage from a Council perspective the construction of new or altered highway and transport infrastructure, ensuring the works are completed in accordance with approved specifications and standards, minimising future maintenance liabilities and protecting the County Council’s interests.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Inspecting portions of the A428 DCO infrastructure that will become County Council assets, including overbridges and junctions.
• Undertaking site visits to spot check works, review soil testing data, and verify material tickets for compliance.
• Escalating deviations from approved designs or other faults to the project sponsor and on-site supervisors.
• Providing on-site technical advice and decision-making to resolve construction and engineering issues.
• Supporting adoption administration by collating relevant certificates and documentation.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• BTEC National Certificate Level 3 or equivalent in Civil Engineering or Construction.
• Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Card.
• Demonstrable experience working in highway maintenance and construction or related areas.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Knowledge of relevant Highway legislation and national guidance.
• Familiarity with IT systems to record highway inspections (e.g., SharePoint, Word, Excel).
• NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent for Health and Safety in Construction.
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £50 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £40 per hour PAYE).
