Mechanical Project Manager
PLEASE NOTE – This is for Night Work. Please only apply if you are open and happy to work nights.
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to lead the delivery of a £10 million Commercial Fit Out project in the West End. Due to the type of work being installed and the end client, certain works can only be carried out at night. There will be a site based team during the day and this person will then lead works overnight. This is a 12 month project starting on site in Feb/Mar, but can bring this person into the business immediately. This role requires an individual with a strong background in mechanical building services, preferably as a Project Manager but would also consider a strong Site/Construction Manager.
Role
The Mechanical Project Manager will be responsible for managing the project lifecycle from pre-construction through to handover, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, to budget, and with minimal disruption to occupants.
*
Lead the planning, execution, and successful delivery of mechanical elements within a large-scale decarbonisation project, including heating system upgrades, CHP removal, ASHP/GSHP integration, and BMS upgrades.
*
Act as the primary point of contact for the client, consultants, supply chain, and internal teams on all mechanical aspects.
*
Manage and coordinate mechanical contractors, suppliers, and site personnel to ensure efficient and safe delivery in a live environment.
*
Oversee project programme, budgets, risk registers, and change management processes.
*
Ensure all works meet technical specifications, quality standards, and compliance with relevant building regulations and decarbonisation frameworks.
*
Review and approve technical submissions, method statements, and RAMS in coordination with the HSEQ team.
*
Monitor site activities, ensuring that safety, cleanliness, and communication protocols are maintained within occupied buildings.
*
Coordinate closely with facilities management teams and building users to manage disruptions and phased works.
*
Support commissioning, testing, and handover processes including documentation and client training.
Education & Qualifications
*
Degree or HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or related field.
*
Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in mechanical project management, including recent delivery of decarbonisation, energy efficiency, or retrofit schemes.
*
Proven experience delivering mechanical works in live environments, with a strong understanding of occupant impact mitigation and stakeholder communication.
*
Strong technical knowledge of mechanical plant upgrades, heat pump systems, energy centres, pipework, and BMS integrations.
*
Familiarity with government or public sector frameworks (e.g. PSDS, RE:FIT) is advantageous.
*
Good knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements, especially in occupied buildings.
*
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
*
Proficient in project management and document control tools (e.g., MS Project, Asta, Aconex, Field View)
