We’re working with a leading national main contractor to find an experienced M&E Quantity Surveyor for a permanent role based in Manchester. This is not your average QS position, you’ll be involved in delivering some of the UK’s most prestigious infrastructure and building services schemes, working with a name that opens doors and enhances CVs.

About the Company
Our client is a household name in UK construction – a Tier 1 contractor delivering complex mechanical and electrical (M&E) packages across sectors including healthcare, education, custodial, defence, and commercial.
You’ll be joining their dedicated building services engineering division, a team known for its technical capability, collaborative mindset, and delivery of high-impact projects that truly stand out. Their projects aren’t just large, they’re high-spec, design-led, and often on the front pages of industry publications.

Key Responsibilities
* Managing mechanical and electrical packages across major infrastructure and construction schemes
*
Preparing valuations, variations, and detailed cost reports
*
Leading subcontractor procurement and managing payment processes
*
Working closely with project teams to mitigate risk and optimise commercial outcomes
*
Supporting bids, tenders, and early-stage project planning
*
Ensuring full contractual compliance and structured documentation
*
Representing the commercial function in client and internal meetings
Skills & Experience Required
* Solid background in M&E or building services quantity surveying
*
Experience managing both mechanical and electrical commercial packages
*
Familiarity with NEC and/or JCT contract frameworks
*
Strong grasp of cost control, forecasting, variations, and final accounts
*
Excellent interpersonal skills – able to build relationships across departments and with external stakeholders
*
Clear communicator with strong commercial judgement
*
Degree qualified or equivalent professional experience
