Senior Site Manager – Public Sector Construction Project | Bristol | £6m Project

We’re seeking an experienced Senior Site Manager to lead a £6 million new build and refurbishment project on behalf of a local council. The project is being delivered by a long-established, Bristol-based main contractor recognised for delivering high-quality projects across education, healthcare, commercial, and community sectors. They take pride in combining traditional craftsmanship with modern construction methods, maintaining strong relationships with both public and private clients throughout the South West.

The Role

As Senior Site Manager, you will take full responsibility for the delivery of this major project, ensuring the highest standards of health & safety, quality, and programme performance are achieved. You’ll lead the site team, coordinate subcontractors, and work closely with design and commercial teams to deliver a successful outcome.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee daily site operations, ensuring works are delivered safely and efficiently.

Lead project delivery through all stages from groundwork to handover.

*

Manage subcontractor performance, progress, and quality.

*

Ensure compliance with health & safety legislation and company procedures.

*

Maintain accurate records, including site reports, risk assessments, and QA documentation.

*

Liaise with clients, consultants, and local authority representatives.

Requirements

*

Proven experience as a Senior Site Manager on medium to large-scale construction projects.

*

Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple trades and packages.

*

Experience in public sector, education, or community builds is highly desirable.

*

Thorough understanding of construction programmes, sequencing, and buildability.

*

Must hold valid SMSTS, CSCS, and First Aid certifications
