Key Responsibilities
Cost Planning & Reporting
*
Lead the preparation and management of consolidated Cost Plans and Bills of Quantities (BoQs) from initial budgets through to trade package allocation.
*
Oversee measurement and analysis of early design data to support scheme viability assessments and inform commercial strategy.
*
Establish and maintain strong partnerships with BIM consultants to ensure accurate and integrated BoQ production aligned with evolving cost plans.
*
Analyse cost data from comparable schemes to identify key cost drivers, regional variations, and efficiency opportunities.
*
Oversee the development and accuracy of the company’s cost database, ensuring consistency and relevance for future projects.
*
Produce and present monthly commercial dashboards for live and upcoming schemes, providing meaningful insight to senior stakeholders.
*
Conduct detailed cost modelling and sensitivity analysis to inform design and procurement decisions.
*
Collaborate with regional teams to align cost planning methodologies, promote consistency, and share best practice across the business.
*
Drive the creation and implementation of a robust Cost Planning Tool to support early-stage decision-making for all pre-release schemes.
Procurement & Management
*
Lead early engagement with the supply chain on key shell and core packages, providing strategic feedback to the Planning and Design teams to identify opportunities and efficiencies at the early design stage.
*
Oversee evaluations of alternative construction methods to assess design constraints, risks, and opportunities that enhance value across projects.
*
Provide commercial direction on early-stage procurement packages such as brick and window supply, ensuring alignment with planning data and programme priorities.
*
Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with specialist subcontractors to encourage collaboration, innovation, and reliable delivery.
*
Represent the commercial function in Design Team Meetings, reviewing RIBA Stage 1–3 outputs and influencing specifications through the Value Engineering process.
*
Partner with specialist consultants at concept stage to identify and integrate value engineering opportunities within early design solutions.
*
Work closely with project commercial teams to capture scope gaps, lessons learned, and cost insights to improve future cost plans and procurement strategies.
*
Lead project cost comparisons and square-foot analyses to support feasibility studies and commercial decision-making.
*
Deliver pragmatic, well-reasoned solutions to complex project challenges, coordinating input across multiple disciplines to protect programme, design intent, and budget outcomes
