Design Manager
Role Overview
We are seeking a Design Manager (or experienced Design Coordinator) to support the Head of Design on a high-profile project at Stansted Airport. The successful candidate will act as the interface between design consultants, subcontractors, and the construction team to ensure that all design information is delivered accurately, efficiently, and on programme.
Key Responsibilities

Assist the Head of Design in managing the design process from concept through to construction.

Coordinate and review design information from consultants, ensuring alignment with project specifications and construction requirements.

Manage design deliverables, trackers, and document control to ensure timely approvals.
*
Liaise with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and client stakeholders to resolve design queries.
*
Support the construction team with technical drawings, buildability reviews, and value engineering opportunities.
*
Ensure compliance with airport authority requirements, health & safety standards, and regulatory approvals.
*
Attend and contribute to design and coordination meetings, producing clear action plans and progress reports.
Requirements
*
Proven experience as a Design Manager or Design Coordinator within the construction industry — ideally on aviation, infrastructure, or complex building projects.
*
Strong understanding of design processes, RIBA stages, and construction methodologies.
*
Experience coordinating multiple design disciplines and managing consultants.
*
Excellent communication and organisational skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
*
Proficient in using design management tools and document control systems (e.g., BIM 360, Aconex, Asite, Viewpoint).
*
Relevant construction or engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree).
