Estimator

The Client:
A well-established and reputable main contractor based in South London, this forward-thinking business delivers a diverse range of projects across residential, education, commercial and public sectors. With a long history of successful delivery and strong repeat business, the company is now seeking an Estimator to join their growing pre-construction team.

The Role:
As Estimator, you’ll play a key role in preparing and managing tenders for projects ranging from small refurbishments through to multi-million-pound new builds. Working within an experienced team, you’ll be involved in the full tender process — from initial enquiry and cost planning through to submission and post-tender review. This role offers excellent scope for development, with applications welcomed from estimators at all levels who have experience working in a main contracting environment.

Responsibilities:

* Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates and tender submissions.

* Analyse drawings, specifications and other documents to prepare detailed cost breakdowns.

* Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain quotations and assess value.

* Identify risks, opportunities and value engineering options within tender submissions.

* Work closely with the pre-construction and delivery teams to ensure tenders are commercially robust and achievable.

* Attend tender meetings, client interviews and site visits as required.

* Maintain accurate records of pricing, tender feedback and supplier performance.

* Contribute to continuous improvement and the development of estimating procedures.

Qualifications & Experience:

* Previous experience as an Estimator within a main contracting environment is essential.

* Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials and subcontract procurement.

* Excellent analytical, numerical and negotiation skills.

* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.

* Proficient with Microsoft Office and estimating software.

* Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

* Based within a commutable distance of Crystal Palace, South London.
