Job Title: Building Surveyor
Salary: £55,000
Reporting to: Property Director
Purpose of Position: Oversee and enhance the maintenance of the built estate, ensuring all properties are well-maintained and comply with regulations.
Key responsibilities:
- Leadership: Lead the Estates building teams to meet the Trustees’ objectives for the built portfolio.
- Budget Management: Plan and manage the annual building maintenance budget.
- Maintenance Oversight: Develop and regularly review preventative maintenance plans.
- Team Supervision: Supervise Estates building surveyors and in-house maintenance teams.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to health and safety legislation and statutory regulations.
- Project Management: Oversee maintenance and refurbishment projects from start to finish.
Security responsibilities:
- Maintain secure premises and promote staff awareness of security protocols.
- Organise inspections of vacant properties.
Qualifications:
- Relevant Building or Surveying qualification.
- RICS, MCIOB, or Hons Degree (desirable).
Experience:
- Managing teams and contractors.
- Familiarity with listed buildings and maintenance processes.
- Knowledge of building pathology, planning regulations, and building regulations.
- Skills/Technical Knowledge:
- Health & Safety and CDM Regulations.
- Current knowledge of building construction.
- Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, ACAD, and QUBE.
- Asbestos management and diagnosing building defects.
Other requirements:
- Full driving licence.
- Ability to undertake call-out duties on a rota basis.
- Evidence of CPD.
