Site Engineer
Role Overview
The Site Engineer will play a key role in supporting the site management and project teams with all engineering, setting out, and technical coordination duties. The role involves setting out works, managing quality assurance, checking drawings and specifications, and ensuring compliance with design and construction standards.
You’ll work closely with site managers, subcontractors, and design teams to maintain accuracy, safety, and efficient progress on site.
Key Responsibilities

Carry out setting out and surveying for groundworks, structural, and finishing trades in line with project requirements.

Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with design drawings, specifications, and quality standards.

Manage and maintain QA documentation, including inspection test plans (ITPs), as-built records, and daily check sheets.

Conduct dimensional checks, prepare accurate site records, and ensure that any non-conformances are reported and resolved promptly.
*
Liaise with design teams, subcontractors, and project managers to coordinate technical information and resolve site issues.
*
Assist with temporary works coordination, ensuring compliance and certification where required.
*
Monitor H&S compliance on site and promote best practice among all teams.
*
Support project planning and sequencing, ensuring engineering input aligns with programme milestones.
*
Maintain equipment calibration records and manage surveying tools effectively.
*
Contribute to progress reporting, ensuring works are tracked and recorded accurately against programme targets.
Requirements
*
Proven experience as a Site Engineer within a main contractor environment (essential).
*
Previous exposure to education or institutional projects preferred (schools, universities, or public buildings).
*
Proficient in setting out and surveying equipment (Total Station, GPS, AutoCAD, etc.).
*
Strong understanding of construction processes, drawings, and technical specifications.
*
Excellent communication and coordination skills with a proactive, problem-solving approach.
*
Competent in maintaining QA documentation and record keeping.
*
CSCS Card (Engineer or higher).
*
SMSTS / SSSTS certification desirable.
*
Relevant degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
*
Full UK driving licence.
