Role Summary

This is a full-time, on-site position based in Harlow. The Estimator/Bidder will play a key role in preparing accurate and competitive quotations and tenders for security system projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting site surveys, preparing take-offs, creating detailed project cost breakdowns, and maintaining precise and timely project estimates.

The role involves collaborating with internal teams, suppliers, and clients to develop proposals that reflect both the technical and commercial requirements of each project. The Estimator will also support business growth by identifying new opportunities, negotiating effectively, and maintaining strong relationships with both new and existing clients.

Key Responsibilities

Review all pricing, tender requests, and quotes for installation projects.

Source competitive pricing and ensure proposals are submitted accurately and on time in line with British Standards.

Develop persuasive proposals and presentations to win new business.

Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and partners.

Present innovative solutions and services to existing clients to support account growth.

Collaborate with internal teams to meet customer needs and deliver technical support.

Conduct and participate in internal and external debriefs to support continuous improvement.

Knowledge & Experience Required

Minimum 3 years’ experience in security systems estimating or a closely related field.

Strong understanding of NACOSS, BAFE SP203/BS5839, and relevant British Standards.

Relevant qualifications (FIA, NSI, LPCB, City & Guilds) desirable; equivalent experience will also be considered.

Proficiency with estimating software, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office.

Strong analytical, mathematical, and organisational skills, with attention to detail.

Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to interpret construction plans, project specifications, and schedules.

Proven ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Understanding of security systems and their components.

General Requirements

Must have a clear record and be able to pass CRB/DBS and industry screening checks.

Demonstrate professionalism and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
