We are working with one of the UK's leading specialist steel fabricators, renowned for delivering high-quality, precision-engineered steel solutions across the rail, highways, energy, engineering, material handling, and construction sectors.
With a strong reputation for excellence and reliability, the company partners with major contractors and developers to deliver a diverse range of infrastructure and structural projects across the UK.
They are now seeking an experienced Estimator to join their growing team in Leicester, focusing on projects within the residential and house building sector, with values of up to £2 million.
The Role
As an Estimator, you will play a key role in preparing accurate and competitive quotations for a variety of structural steel and architectural metalwork projects. You'll work closely with internal teams, clients, and suppliers to ensure tenders are commercially sound, technically compliant, and aligned with client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates and tenders for steel fabrication and installation projects (up to £2 million).
Review architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and tender documentation.
Liaise with clients, engineers, and suppliers to ensure project requirements are fully understood.
Calculate material, labour, and subcontractor costs, identifying potential value engineering opportunities.
Manage and track tender submissions, ensuring deadlines are met.
Support project handover to contracts and delivery teams, providing clear commercial insight.
Maintain accurate records of all tenders, quotations, and project correspondence.
Skills & Experience Required
Proven experience as an Estimator within structural steel or architectural metalwork (essential).
Strong technical knowledge of steel fabrication, materials, and installation processes.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Excellent commercial awareness and analytical skills.
Confident communicator with the ability to liaise effectively across teams and with clients.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and estimating software (e.g., StruMis, Tekla EPM, or similar).
Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
