Your new role
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team based in Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity to take a lead role in managing the financial delivery of multiple civil engineering and infrastructure projects, ensuring profitability, efficiency, and client satisfaction. You will also provide guidance to junior members of the team and play a key part in supporting the company's continued success.
Responsibilities will include:
Leading the commercial management of highways and civil engineering schemes from inception to completion.
Preparing and managing interim valuations, variations, and final accounts.
Overseeing cost control, forecasting, and budget management across multiple projects.
Managing subcontractor procurement, negotiation, and performance.
Ensuring full contract compliance (NEC and other standard forms).
Producing accurate commercial reports for senior leadership and contributing to strategic planning.
Building strong working relationships with clients, consultants, and project teams.
Mentoring and supporting junior commercial staff.
What you will need to succeed:
Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or experienced QS ready to step up.
Strong background in civil engineering or highways projects.
Excellent knowledge of NEC contracts and commercial processes.
Strong analytical, financial, and negotiation skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards.
Confident communicator and collaborative team player.
Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
