Role Overview

As a Quantity Surveyor, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the commercial success of multiple residential and affordable housing projects. Working within the Commercial team, you’ll manage all cost-related and contractual aspects of construction projects—from procurement through to final accounts—while maintaining compliance with company and contract standards. Working closely with and overseeing an Assistant Quantity Surveyor between you, you will over see up to 4 projects.

Key Responsibilities of Quantity Surveyor

Procurement & Value Management:
Lead the subcontract procurement process to secure best value, leveraging group supply agreements and contributing to value engineering discussions.
Cost Control & Reporting:
Prepare and maintain key commercial documents such as cost value reconciliations (CVRs), risk and opportunity registers, and cashflow forecasts.
Subcontract Management:
Administer and oversee subcontractor accounts, including valuations, variations, contra charges, and final accounts.
Contract Administration:
Manage affordable housing contracts and ensure subcontract vetting and compliance (insurance, CIS, SMAS, etc.).
Risk & Opportunity Management:
Identify, assess, and report commercial risks and opportunities in collaboration with the project team.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
Work closely with design, technical, construction, and sales teams to support commercial decision-making and project delivery.
Dispute Resolution:
Support resolution of subcontractor disputes through contractually sound correspondence and documentation.

Quantity Surveyor Profile

Qualifications:
Degree in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent).
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of construction processes, ability to read drawings and technical specs, and experience using, COINS, Microsoft office suit.
Experience:
Proven track record in managing open market, mixed-tenure or affordable housing developments and working with standard forms of contract (JCT, trade contracts, etc.).
Soft Skills:
Excellent communicator, methodical and organised, with a collaborative mindset.
Other:
Full UK driving licence as travel to and from various sites in different locations is required

The client is able to offer a good mix of site and office working, with 1 day a week from home. Sites will be located largely within the Northampton to South Leicester area. Flexi start and finish times are available!
