Location: Small Dole, West Sussex (with travel to sites as required)
Salary: £32,000 – £45,000 per annum (depending on experience)

About the Role
Talented People are recruiting on behalf of a leading civil engineering and construction company for an experienced Plant Fitter to join their team. This role involves maintaining and repairing a wide range of vehicles, plant, and equipment, ensuring safety, compliance, and efficiency at all times. The position is based at the company’s Small Dole workshop, with occasional site visits for breakdown support.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out maintenance, servicing, and repairs to plant and machinery both in the workshop and on-site.
* Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and apply appropriate repairs.
* Follow manufacturer guidelines and company procedures during all work activities.
* Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards.
* Carry out welding, fabrication, and gas cutting as required.
* Maintain accurate service and inspection records for all vehicles and equipment.
* Inspect and test equipment before delivery to site.
* Attend toolbox talks, inductions, and complete required training and e-learning.
* Use tools and workshop equipment safely, maintaining cleanliness and order.
* Assist in the training and development of apprentices.
* Liaise with the Workshop Manager and Yard/Stores Operative to manage spares, stock, and consumables efficiently.
* Promote a positive safety and quality culture within the team.
* Support colleagues and ensure effective teamwork across departments.
* Maintain security of vehicles, tools, and premises at all times.
Skills and Experience Required
* Previous experience as a Plant Fitter, ideally within the construction or civil engineering industry.
* Competent in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical fault finding and repair.
* Welding and fabrication experience desirable.
* Strong understanding of health and safety practices.
* Ability to read and follow technical documents, risk assessments, and method statements.
* Excellent teamwork, communication, and time management skills.
* Full UK driving licence.
