Freelance Quantity Surveyor

Our client, a fast-growing residential developer, is seeking an experienced Freelance Quantity Surveyor to support their commercial team across several new build housing schemes. This is an excellent opportunity for a capable QS who is confident managing costs across multiple live sites and is looking for a rewarding mid-term contract.

Key Responsibilities

* Oversee commercial and cost-control activities across new build residential projects

* Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and cashflows

* Lead procurement, tendering, and subcontractor negotiations

* Conduct site valuations, measure works, and manage variations

* Produce and review interim applications, payment notices, and final accounts

* Collaborate closely with project managers and site teams to ensure cost efficiency

* Provide regular cost reporting to senior management

* Travel between the Bedford office and Norwich sites as required

Key Requirements

* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within residential new build (developer or contractor background)

* Strong commercial acumen with excellent negotiation and communication skills

* Ability to operate autonomously and manage workload across multiple projects

* Willingness and ability to travel (Bedford-based with visits to Norwich sites)

* Immediate or short-notice availability preferred

* Own transport essential
