Our client is a respected name within the construction and civil engineering industry, delivering projects to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Estimator to join their team and contribute to the preparation and delivery of competitive tenders across a range of projects.
The Role
The Estimator will be responsible for preparing and submitting accurate, market-competitive tenders in line with company guidelines. The successful candidate will work closely with the Estimating Manager, project teams, and subcontractors to ensure all bids are delivered on time and to specification.
Key Responsibilities:
·Prepare and submit market-competitive tenders in accordance with company procedures.
·Prepare detailed take-offs from tender documents and drawings.
·Review tender documentation to ensure accurate and compliant cost estimates.
·Obtain and assess quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
·Organise and track market pricing for equipment, materials, and construction costs.
·Attend tender adjudication meetings and client interviews as required.
·Prepare comprehensive handover documentation for successful tenders and participate in internal pre-start meetings.
·Support, mentor, and supervise members of the Estimating team as assigned.
·Provide cover for the Estimating Manager during periods of absence.
·Take responsibility for your own health and safety, and for those who may be affected by your actions.
·Adhere to all company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
·Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by management.
Skills & Experience:
·Proven experience as an Estimator within the construction industry.
·Competent in preparing tenders ranging in value from £50k to £20m.
·Strong understanding of bills of quantities and standard methods of measurement.
·Excellent numerical and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
·Strong time management and organisational skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
·Knowledge of local market pricing for labour, plant, and materials.
·Proficiency in estimating software (e.g. Causeway Estimating).
·Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
·Sound understanding of budget control and cost management principles.
