About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly experienced Contracts Manager to join a leading national M&E design & build contractor. The role will be based in Newcastle and will cover projects across the North East.

You will be client-facing and responsible for the successful delivery of high-value projects, typically valued above £10 million. You will manage all aspects of contract execution from mobilisation to completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior professional with a proven track record in large-scale M&E or building services projects, looking to take ownership of major contracts and play a pivotal role in a growing national business.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the delivery of multiple high-value projects up to and in excess of £10 million, ensuring compliance with contract terms, budgets, and schedules.

Act as the main point of contact for clients, consultants, and subcontractors, building strong relationships and ensuring excellent customer service.

Review and interpret contract documentation, manage variations, and ensure commercial and contractual obligations are met.

Provide leadership and guidance to Project Managers, Site Managers, and site teams to achieve project objectives.

Monitor project progress, financial performance, and risk, taking proactive steps to resolve issues.

Prepare and present regular reports on contract performance, including programme, budget, and risk updates, to senior management and clients.

Ensure all projects are delivered in line with H&S, quality, and sustainability standards.

Support business development activities, including proposals, tender submissions, and client presentations.

Person Specification

Proven experience as a Contracts Manager, Senior Project Manager, or similar role within the M&E.

Experience managing projects in excess of £10 million, ideally multi-disciplinary

Strong client-facing skills, capable of building and maintaining relationships at senior levels.

Excellent understanding of contract administration (NEC, JCT, or equivalent) and commercial awareness.

Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to influence and motivate site and project teams.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.

Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the North East.
