The Role

Due to business growth, we are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team based in Preston. Your role will be to manage the procurement, commercial, and contractual aspects of individual water/wastewater projects and frameworks.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

Your core duties will involve the full commercial management of subcontractors, from initial procurement, attending pre-contract meetings, and preparing formal agreements to managing interim and final accounts. You will also be responsible for the measurement of works, budgetary control, monitoring costs, managing overspend, and handling any legal or commercial issues and disputes that may arise.

Ideally, you will have:

A relevant qualification (e.g., BSc, NVQ4, MRICS) and a high level of commercial awareness. We require excellent IT, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, along with a strong understanding of various Methods of Measurement and market rates. Crucially, you must have excellent knowledge of various NEC contracts, particularly regarding extension of time claims. An appreciation for Value Engineering and experience commercially managing large M&E projects would be highly desirable
