Mechanical Design Engineer
About the Role
We’re looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to take ownership of the technical design and development of mechanical systems across a range of projects, from concept through to Stage 4/5. You’ll ensure all designs are completed in line with company standards, technical requirements, and agreed timelines.
Projects will span the education, commercial, mixed-use, and residential sectors. While you’ll work under the guidance of the Design Manager, you’ll be expected to deliver high-quality work that requires minimal revision.
Key Responsibilities

Review project design contracts and associated documentation, confirming Stage 4/5 deliverables, required reports, and exclusions.

Produce MEP designs, calculations, and technical specifications using company-approved design software.

Oversee and coordinate the production of drawings to ensure deadlines are met and that all outputs are technically accurate and consistent.

Prepare and maintain detailed design documents, including equipment schedules and energy modelling reports.

Collaborate closely with internal project teams, clients, and senior management to ensure a seamless delivery process that meets all client expectations.

Attend internal and external meetings as required, and handle all design-related RFIs.

Conduct on-site design surveys, using Lidar scanning technology to capture data for the CAD and design teams.

Prepare energy modelling assessments and support presentation materials when needed.
Requirements
*
Degree in Building Services Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
*
Proven experience in the Building Services sector.
*
Strong technical knowledge of the mechanical discipline.
*
Proficient in design software such as Revit, Hevacomp, and AutoCAD.
*
Keen interest in sustainable, low-carbon, and energy-efficient design solutions.
*
Solid understanding of current Building Regulations and industry standards.
*
Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
*
Competent in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
*
Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with clients professionally.
*
Full UK driving licence.
