Business Development Manager – Groundworks / Surfacing
Location: National (based from Milton Keynes depot, with regular travel)
Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 + commission + package
Employment: Full-time, permanent
The Company
An established and expanding groundworks and tarmacking contractor is seeking a Business Development Manager to help grow its client base and project portfolio across the UK. The company delivers projects in sectors such as sports & leisure, commercial, and infrastructure, with typical values up to £1.5m.
The Role
This is a pivotal role for someone with proven business development experience in the civil engineering or surfacing sector. You’ll focus on identifying new opportunities, managing key accounts, and strengthening long-term client relationships to support the company’s strategic growth targets.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients.
* Identify and pursue opportunities for groundworks and tarmacking packages.
* Prepare and present proposals, quotations, and capability documents.
* Work closely with estimators and operational teams to ensure smooth handover of secured projects.
* Attend networking events, pre-start meetings, and client visits as required.
* Track and report sales activity, pipeline, and conversion rates.
About You:
* Proven track record in business development, sales, or account management within groundworks, civil engineering, or surfacing.
* Confident communicator able to engage with main contractors, developers, and public-sector clients.
* Driven, self-motivated, and results-oriented with a collaborative approach.
* Strong understanding of tarmac, surfacing, and groundwork processes.
* Must hold a full UK driving licence and be comfortable with regular travel
