Construction Manager – Knightsbridge

We are representing a specialist contractor seeking an experienced Site Manager or Construction Manager to oversee the reconfiguration of a Grade II* listed retail landmark in Central London. The project involves complex interior refurbishment of a heritage public area, including the removal, refurbishment and reinstatement of existing escalators. Works are being carried out within a fully operational, high-profile environment and require exceptional planning, communication, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Oversee enabling works: protection of finishes, temporary access/scaffolding, and isolation of services.

*

Manage main works: interior strip-out, reconfiguration, escalator removal and reinstatement, and decorative reinstatement.

*

Coordinate with conservation architect, client project team, and building control.

*

Maintain programme, quality, and health & safety compliance in a live trading environment.

Candidate Profile

*

Minimum 5 years’ experience delivering high-end or heritage refurbishments in live settings (retail, hotel, or museum).

*

SMSTS, CSCS , and First Aid certifications required.

*

Proven experience coordinating specialist subcontractors, particularly for mechanical installations such as escalators or lifts.

*

Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

*
