The Role
As Interim Director of Corporate Property, you will lead the strategic management of Westminster’s extensive property portfolio, ensuring alignment with the council’s Fairer Westminster vision. You’ll oversee capital programmes, asset optimisation, sustainability initiatives, and commercial investments, while fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development and implementation of corporate property strategies, including carbon reduction and estate optimisation. Oversee a property portfolio with a total budget of approx. £217m, including £44m commercial income and £31m non-pay costs. Advise senior officers and elected members on all property matters, including legislative changes and best practice.
Drive commercial opportunities and investment planning to maximise returns and diversify the estate. Ensure statutory compliance, health and safety, and accessibility across all council properties. Lead the Corporate Health & Safety team and ensure robust systems are in place. Deliver high-quality, fit-for-purpose accommodation for council services. Embed performance monitoring and reporting across the property function. Champion inclusive leadership and support the council’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion ambitions.
About You
* You are a strategic and commercially minded property professional with:
* Proven experience leading property functions in large, complex organisations.
* Strong knowledge of commercial and occupational property sectors.
* Expertise in building services, FM, estates, or construction. Excellent stakeholder engagement and leadership skills.
* Ability to manage large budgets and deliver transformation programmes. MRICS or equivalent professional qualification (preferred).
*Local Authority experience preferred
Rate of Pay
Umbrella: £660 (Flexible)
