About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished and proactive Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their expanding commercial team. This is a key role responsible for overseeing all financial and contractual aspects of multiple construction projects, ensuring profitability, cost control, and client satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing complex projects from tender through to final account, with strong leadership and negotiation skills.

Key Responsibilities

Take full commercial responsibility for assigned projects from inception to completion.

Lead cost planning, procurement, and contract administration activities.

*

Prepare and manage bills of quantities, valuations, and cost reports.

*

Oversee subcontractor tendering, appointment, and management.

*

Assess variations, value engineering options, and project risks.

*

Manage interim valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts.

*

Liaise effectively with clients, design teams, site managers, and senior leadership to ensure accurate reporting and successful project delivery.

*

Mentor and support junior Quantity Surveyors and commercial staff.

*

Ensure compliance with company procedures and industry regulations.

Key Skills

*

Excellent commercial and contractual knowledge (JCT, NEC, or Design & Build forms).

*

Strong negotiation, leadership, and communication skills.

*

Exceptional analytical and numerical ability with attention to detail.

*

Proficient in Microsoft Office and cost management software (e.g. Sage, Excel, Causeway).

*

Ability to manage multiple projects and meet strict deadlines.

*

Confident decision-maker with a collaborative approach.

Experience

*

Minimum 7+ years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.

*

Proven background working for a main contractor or subcontractor.

*

Experience managing projects from tender stage to final account.

*

Track record of mentoring junior staff and leading commercial teams.

Salary

£80,000 – £90,000 DOE
