Quantity Surveyor
We’re supporting a leading construction consultancy involved in delivering a major substation package as part of a nationally significant infrastructure programme. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a collaborative team and contribute to the successful commercial management of complex energy infrastructure works.
This initiative forms part of National Grid’s £30bn investment in electricity networks across England and Wales over the next four years, helping to connect renewable energy to homes and businesses while modernising the UK’s power infrastructure. This roles offer an exciting opportunity to work on nationally significant energy projects, supporting the delivery of complex substation and electrical infrastructure upgrades.
The role is based in Waltham Cross, with flexible working and an expectation to be on site two to three days per week.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the commercial team in the management and delivery of the substation project package.
* Administer and manage NEC Option C contracts, with a strong understanding of Defined Cost, Disallowed Cost, and Compensation Events.
* Assist in the preparation and evaluation of cost reports, forecasts, and change control documentation.
* Work closely with project teams, clients, and contractors to ensure effective cost and risk management.
* Support procurement activities, subcontractor management, and monthly reporting.
* Contribute to value engineering, cost assurance, and commercial decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
Candidate Profile
* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within infrastructure, utilities, or energy sectors.
* Strong working knowledge of NEC Option C contracts and commercial management practices.
* Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related field; RICS accreditation (or working towards) is advantageous.
* Excellent financial, analytical, and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary project teams
