Senior M&E Coordinator / Technical Manager
Senior M&E Coordinator / Technical Manager – £60,000–£75,000 + car + bonus
London & South East | Residential developer | Hybrid 4/1 | Office-based with site visits
We’re hiring a senior M&E Coordinator / Technical Manager to lead building-services coordination from early design through handover on multi-plot residential schemes. This is a delivery-minded technical role: clear coordination, robust specs, and zero-surprise handovers.
Why you’ll want to work here
*
Hybrid working: three days office/site, one day on site, one day from home for focused technical work.
*
Professional development: CPDs, manufacturer visits and technical workshops; support to deepen credentials.
*
Collaborative culture: close-knit technical and delivery teams who share learning and adopt new tech quickly.
*
Broad exposure: regular engagement with specialists, statutory bodies and project stakeholders across the lifecycle.
What you’ll deliver
End-to-end M&E coordination across multiple live schemes, from land-pack review and pre-planning advice through detailed design, site support and handover.
Technical ownership of mechanical and electrical packages: specifications, compliance, value engineering and buildability.
Clean information flow: submittals, RFI responses, change notes and trackers aligned to programme and cost plans.
Pre-construction
*
Review land and planning packs; stress-test M&E assumptions and budgets, highlighting risks, regs and opportunities.
*
Produce clear technical reports at pre- and post-planning, capturing compliance, lifecycle, fire and energy implications.
*
Keep teams current on evolving regs and standards; ensure changes are priced, recorded and communicated.
Detailed design (ConDoc)
*
Compile M&E tender documents and performance specs for consultants and specialists.
*
Lead design workshops; drive coordination between M&E, architectural and structural information.
*
Review drawings, schematics and specs for completeness, compliance and value; close actions quickly with designers and manufacturers.
*
Maintain a VE mindset without compromising performance, safety or maintainability.
Site support and delivery
*
Review contractor tenders; contribute to pre-selection and technical adjudication.
*
Support commercial and works teams before and after award; monitor—not supervise—installation progress and quality.
*
Respond to RFIs, chase consultant responses and maintain auditable records.
*
Attend benchmarks, produce technical snag lists, verify certification (including NICEIC) and readiness for commissioning and handover.
What you know cold
*
Residential building-services design and delivery, ideally with a mechanical bias.
*
UK standards and guidance: Building Regulations, British Standards and CIBSE guides.
*
Common tools: AutoCAD/Revit (view/markup acceptable), MS Office, design and document trackers.
*
How to turn complex M&E design into coordinated, buildable information for site.
What you’ll need
*
5+ years’ experience in residential building-services design/coordination with a consultancy, contractor or developer.
*
HNC/HND (or higher) in a building-services discipline; strong grasp of M, E and public health systems.
*
Clear communicator who writes crisp reports and leads productive meetings.
*
Calm under pressure with multiple projects; organised, proactive and solutions-focused.
*
Full UK right to work; flexibility for occasional evening/weekend needs aligned to programme.
