Senior Design Manager

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Manager to join a high-profile Ministry of Justice (MoJ) project at Erlestoke Prison. The project involves an extension to the existing facility, replicating a successfully completed design from a previous prison development. While the core design is already in place, this role focuses on the coordination, adaptation, and implementation of the design for the new site.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and coordinate the design process for the Erlestoke Prison extension.

Map and adapt the existing design to suit the specific requirements and conditions of the Erlestoke site.

Work closely with the project team, design consultants, and MoJ stakeholders to ensure alignment with project objectives and standards.

Manage design documentation, approvals, and compliance with MoJ and security protocols.

*

Monitor progress and address design-related issues during project delivery.

*

Ensure all design outputs meet programme, budget, and quality expectations.

Requirements:

*

Proven experience as a Senior Design Manager on major construction projects.

*

Ministry of Justice (MoJ) project experience highly desirable.

*

Strong background in civils and infrastructure.

*

Advanced security clearance (or eligibility to obtain it) required.

*

Excellent coordination and communication skills with multidisciplinary teams.

*

Based within one hour’s travel of Erlestoke House (Devizes, SN10 5TU).

This is a freelance position offering an immediate start, with a likely duration of 6 months or more. The successful candidate will join a well-established project team on a complex and secure government site
