The Role
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Quantity Surveyor to join our team and support our tendering and project cost control processes. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for managing cost planning, estimation, subcontractor procurement and commercial reporting across electrical project portfolios from small works through to full design & build packages.
Key responsibilities include:

Prepare detailed cost estimates, bills of quantities (or schedule of rates), cost plans and tender submissions for electrical contracting packages.

Analyse drawings, specifications and scope of works to build accurate take-offs and cost assumptions.

Engage with subcontractors and suppliers to source competitive pricing, assess commercial submissions and manage subcontract cost risk.

Monitor budget vs actual on projects, review cost variances, issue reports and recommend corrective actions.
*
Support contract administration including variations, change orders, valuations and final account negotiations.
*
Collaborate with project teams (estimating, project management, procurement) to ensure cost information is integrated into planning, procurement and delivery.

Maintain commercial data, prepare monthly dashboards and produce interim & final project cost reports.
What we’re looking for
*
Proven experience as a QS (or Estimator/Commercial role) within electrical contracting or M&E building services environment.
*
Strong cost-estimation skills for electrical works (power, lighting, distribution, fixed wiring, testing, refurbishments).
*
Competent with reading drawings, specifications, trade breakdowns and subcontract packages.
*
Excellent numerical and analytical skills with ability to interpret cost data, quantify works and develop pricing models.
*
Good commercial awareness and understanding of contract terms, variations, valuations and final accounts.
*
Strong communication and negotiation skills for dealing with subcontractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
*
Proficient with MS Excel / cost-software; ideally exposure to commercial reporting tools.

Ability to work collaboratively in a busy team, meet deadlines, manage multiple tenders and adapt to evolving project scopes.

Ideally educated to a degree level (Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Building Services) or equivalent experience.
