Elvet Recruitment are recruiting for an Senior Bid Writer on behalf of a thriving Construction contractor to work in their office in the North East

This family-run main contractor has been established over 50 years and has a strong name in the region. The civil engineering company boasts a significant amount of long-standing staff and a professional working environment where progression is within reach for everyone. Following additional project wins, they are looking to add a Senior Bid Writer to their strong regional team. As a Senior Bid Writer, you’ll play a key role in preparing and delivering high-quality written submissions, helping to secure new business through well-structured, compliant, and competitive tenders.

Main duties will include:

Carry out detailed reviews of tender documentation to identify key project information and constraints.

*

Attend pre-tender site visits to gain a thorough understanding of proposed schemes.

*

Liaise with subcontractors, consultants, and key stakeholders to develop accurate and innovative bid proposals.

*

Prepare logic-linked tender programmes with clear critical paths and resource allocations, developed from first principles.

*

Produce phasing plans, methodology statements, and supporting visuals such as traffic management and logistics diagrams.

*

Collaborate with the Bid and Technical Teams to ensure tenders are completed to the highest standard and delivered on time.

*

Contribute to tender review meetings and present programme, logistical, and preliminary elements as required.

*

Prepare labour and plant resource schedules tailored to each project’s specific needs.

*

Identify and assess risks and opportunities during bid development.

*

Confidently participate in client meetings, interviews, and mid-tender discussions.

*

Provide advice to site teams or senior management regarding potential challenges or programme concerns.

*

Support and mentor junior planning and bid staff, contributing to team development.

Skills and experience:

*

Relevant qualification in Civil Engineering (HNC, Degree, or equivalent).

*

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in civil engineering, with a background in site management or project planning.

*

Proficient in Microsoft Project (primary) and familiar with Primavera P6 (secondary).

*

Demonstrated experience planning and delivering civil engineering projects ranging from £0.5m to £10m in value.

*

Strong IT skills and attention to detail.

*

Full UK driving licence
