The Role

We are seeking a Senior Civils Design Engineer to take a leading role in the design and delivery of infrastructure for residential developments. You will be responsible for producing detailed designs for highways, external levels, and drainage systems, as well as supporting more junior engineers in the design process.

This position offers a mix of technical responsibility and autonomy, with the chance to contribute to projects from concept through to technical approval and construction.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design of highways, drainage, and external works for residential developments.

Undertake site appraisals and prepare drainage feasibility studies.

Produce detailed design drawings and technical reports using AutoCAD, Causeway PDS, and Causeway Flow.

Prepare and manage Section 38 and Section 104 submissions, ensuring compliance with relevant standards.

Liaise with Lead Local Flood Authorities (LLFA) in England and SAB bodies within Wales for drainage approvals.

Support the preparation of Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs) and design solutions to mitigate flood risks.

Oversee the work of junior engineers and technicians, offering guidance and technical support.

Coordinate with clients, external consultants, and internal project teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Requirements

Minimum 5 years’ experience in a civil engineering design office.

Proven ability to deliver designs independently with minimal supervision.

Strong understanding of highway and drainage design principles for residential schemes.

Experience in Flood Risk Assessments and drainage feasibility studies.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Causeway PDS, and Causeway Flow (LSS experience advantageous).

In-depth knowledge of the Section 38 and Section 104 approval process.

Excellent communication and coordination skills with clients and stakeholders
