Senior Document Controller

Location: Hertforshire

Salary/Rate: £16.83 an hour

Shift: 45 hours a week 08:00-17:00

We are seeking an experienced and technically proficient Senior Document Controller to lead the management of project documentation across multiple complex construction projects. This is a senior, leadership-focused role essential for maintaining project integrity and compliance.

The Role at a Glance

The primary purpose is to oversee all document control processes, manage the Electronic Document Management System (EDMS), and ensure full compliance with contractual, legal, and company requirements.

Process Leadership: Lead document control processes and ensure consistent compliance (GDPR, ISO standards, Client Contracts).

EDMS Management: Administer and manage EDMS platforms, specifically Viewpoint for Projects (4Projects), including setting up systems, naming conventions, and access controls.

Compliance & Handover: Oversee quality assurance checks, manage the integration of Golden Thread information (e.g., Fieldview), and coordinate the collation and handover of O&M Manuals and H&S Files.

Team & Stakeholder Management: Line manage and mentor junior Document Controllers and coordinate document reviews/approvals with design consultants and subcontractors.

Reporting: Produce key document control reports for project leaders.

Essential Requirements

Experience: Substantial experience in document control within the construction or engineering sector.

Technical Proficiency: Strong, practical knowledge of EDMS platforms, particularly Viewpoint for Projects (4Projects).

Leadership: Proven experience leading or mentoring a team, with the ability to manage and improve document control processes at a program level.

Skills: Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and organisational skills, with a methodical and detail-focused approach.
