Estimator – Social Housing / Planned Works

Location: Warrington
💰 Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 + £6,456 car allowance (£8,056 if electric vehicle) + excellent benefits
We’re currently recruiting for an experienced Estimator to join a well-established contractor based in Warrington. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in developing strategic tender submissions across a range of projects — including Social Housing Repairs, Planned Works, Decarbonisation Retrofits, Painting, and Fire Protection.
You’ll be part of a forward-thinking Commercial Team, responsible for preparing competitive tenders, managing supplier relationships, and contributing to the business’s ongoing success through accurate pricing and strong commercial insight.
Key Responsibilities

Produce accurate and timely tender submissions for social housing and related sectors.

Coordinate bid preparation to allow sufficient time for review and approval by Directors and senior colleagues.
*
Establish clear delivery methodologies and liaise with clients to obtain feedback post-submission, helping to build lasting relationships and repeat business.
*
Maintain strong working relationships with the supply chain, including suppliers, subcontractors, and customers.
*
Collate and analyse relevant data, ensuring accurate interpretation of client requirements.
*
Prepare concise tender overviews, evaluate tender documentation, and identify potential risks or requirements.
*
Assess and evaluate subcontractor quotations and material costs, building up unit rates for tender purposes.
*
Develop and maintain a costing database for use in large tender submissions.
*
Regularly review and update all cost base elements — labour, plant, subcontractors, and materials.
*
Produce forecast budgets and comprehensive handover notes for secured projects, ensuring smooth transition to delivery teams.
*
Generate detailed financial reports for tender adjudication.
*
Support continuous improvement in the tendering process and assist with contract mobilisation.
*
Work closely with the Director of New Business to increase win rates and overall performance.
Experience & Skills Required
*
Proven track record in pricing bids from first principles.
*
Strong experience in post-tender negotiations with clients (references may be required).
*
Minimum 5 years’ estimating experience in sectors such as Planned Works, Decarbonisation, and Fire Protection.
*
Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
*
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general IT systems.
*
Flexible and proactive approach to workload management.
*
Office-based role with occasional site visits as required.
