Testing & Commissioning Engineer – M&E | Data Centres & Commercial Projects Location: London & Home Counties

Salary: £55,000 – £70,000 + Package (DOE)
About the Role A Tier 1 contractor delivering high-value data centre and commercial building projects is looking for an experienced M&E Testing & Commissioning Engineer to support the successful delivery, integration, and performance verification of all mechanical and electrical systems.
You’ll be at the coalface of quality and technical compliance, making sure systems are installed, tested, and commissioned in line with rigorous programme demands and client standards. Expect fast-paced environments, cutting-edge technology, and projects where precision really matters.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out testing, inspection, and commissioning of mechanical and electrical systems across multiple projects.
Support the development of commissioning plans, test scripts, and quality procedures.
Inspect installations for compliance with design specifications, standards, and commissioning requirements.
Work closely with the Commissioning Manager to track progress, identify issues, and drive resolutions.
Monitor system performance, capturing data and producing accurate commissioning reports.
Liaise with MEP contractors, subcontractors, and specialist vendors during testing phases.
Assist in client demonstrations, witnessing tests, and supporting final handovers.
Ensure all works comply with H&S protocols, technical standards, and project governance.About You
Experience as a Testing & Commissioning Engineer, Commissioning Technician, or similar M&E role.
Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical building services, ideally within data centres or mission-critical environments.
Confident working with systems such as:
HVAC and chilled water
LV distribution
Generators & UPS
Fire systems
BMS/Controls
Ability to read technical drawings, commissioning schedules, and design documentation.
Comfortable working to tight deadlines and managing multiple work fronts.Qualifications
HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Building Services Engineering.
CSCS (Engineering/Technical).
Commissioning training or vendor certifications (desirable).
SMSTS/SSSTS advantageous.Why Join
