Overview

Are you looking to come off the tools and move into an office-based Mechanical Project Engineer role? This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established Building Services contractor working directly with clients on a variety of government-funded projects across schools, universities, healthcare facilities, and local authority buildings.

You’ll have full ownership of projects from tender through to completion, gaining hands-on experience with estimating, procurement, and client management — all while progressing your career within the Building Services and M&E industry.

Duties and Responsibilities

Manage mechanical building services projects from design through to completion

*

Work alongside senior engineers and project managers to learn and develop your skills

*

Handle estimating, procurement, and coordination of materials and subcontractors

*

Deliver Design & Build and pre-designed projects up to £2M mechanical value

*

Oversee labour, specialist subcontractors, and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget

*

Attend client and project meetings, providing professional technical input

*

Manage project costs, variations, and financial reporting

Requirements

*

Previous experience within Building Services, Mechanical Engineering, or M&E contracting

*

Background in one of the following roles: Mechanical Project Engineer, Mechanical Site Manager, Mechanical Supervisor, or Mechanical Contracts Manager

*

Strong understanding of mechanical systems, HVAC, and plumbing installations

*

Excellent organisational and communication skills

*

Ambition to move from a site-based role into a project management position
