Your new role
The Civil Engineering Contracts Manager will oversee a portfolio of groundworks and general civil engineering projects. These projects include site preparation, foundation works, drainage systems, and other essential infrastructure components. The role requires excellent communication, motivation, and leadership skills, along with extensive technical knowledge. The Contracts Manager will have full ownership of the entire process from inception to handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Embed the company culture and ensure consistency across multiple groundworks and civil engineering projects.
- Lead a team of site managers to successfully deliver the program.
- Enhance awareness, compliance, and performance with company standards and procedures.
- Support the growth and development of the team.
- Take overall responsibility for commercial and program delivery while ensuring client satisfaction.
- Oversee site preparation, excavation, foundation works, and installation of drainage systems.
- Ensure all work is carried out to the highest standards of quality and workmanship.
- Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth project execution.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and address any issues or delays.
- Prepare and review contract documents, technical specifications, and project reports.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks to project success.
What you’ll need to succeed
- Proven experience as a Contracts Manager or similar role in the construction industry, with a focus on groundworks and general civil engineering.
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
- Excellent project management and organisational skills.
- Proficiency in using project management software and tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to various project sites.
