Quality Engineer – Civils
Quality Engineer (Groundworks) – Worcester and Midlands – Up to £55K plus car and package
We are recruiting a Quality Engineer with civils experience across residential projects to join a leading civil engineering company recognised throughout the UK, This person needs to have relevant experience in Residential Groundworks.
We are ideally looking for someone with a minimum of 3 years on the ground as an Engineer or with some experience as a Quality Engineer. The first 3 months of the role will be a training period if required, so no direct quality engineer experience is required – however it is desirable.
The role is to carry out quality control inspections and ensure compliance to NHBC, Building Regulations and other legislation on housing, developing a system and timetable for implementing checks and follow ups on sites across all our regions.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
* Carry out quality checks on existing sites during Stage 1 and 2 phase of works.
* Provide technical expertise, advice, and guidance on construction.
* Ensure handovers meet NHBC Standards, Building Regulations, and other relevant legislation.
* Carry out quality checks on sites for the following areas: -: Foundations, Internal and External Plot Drainage, External Levels, Services, Substructure and Blockwork, Floor/Slab Construction, Retaining Walls.
* Prevent costly issues and abortive works due to construction standards not meeting standards.
* Provide feedback to Site Managers and Foremen to improve knowledge throughout the company.
* Work closely with Technical Team to co-ordinate checks in a timely manner and identify sites that require further investigation.
Requirements:
* Experience of site work in house building, ideally residential groundworks.
* Strong knowledge of NHBC standards, guild lines and Building Regulations.
* Knowledge of groundworks, housing and site operations.
* Experience of checking others work and providing feedback.
* Strong communication skills.
* Well organised with a keen eye for detail.
* Professional with the drive to help improve standards.
* Ability to learn new processes and work under own initiative.
* Full UK Driving License.
* A valid CSCS card.
