Senior LV / Authorised Person (AP) Tester
Salary: £60,000 – £68,000 + package
Reports to: Testing Manager / Senior T&C Manager
Role Overview
The Senior LV/AP Tester is a site-based electrical tester responsible for carrying out LV testing, inspection, isolations, and energisations in line with PME ESSW, BS7671, and company procedures. They may oversee small groups of testers or control specific areas of work when required. The role ensures safe and compliant testing activities, accurate documentation, and high-quality installation standards across major LV projects.
Key Responsibilities
Testing, Inspection & Commissioning
• Carry out LV testing and commissioning in accordance with PME Testing Procedures, PME ESSW, BS7671, and GN3.
• Inspect LV installations, switchgear and installation methods for compliance.
• Complete testing schedules for sub-mains, circuits, earthing, and modular wiring.
• Undertake emergency lighting testing and verification.
• Review test results and escalate any out-of-parameter readings to the T&C Manager / Project Team.
• Support client witnessing of LV fixed wiring and modular wiring test results.
Documentation & QA
• Maintain and update the PME electronic test folder (all results entered within 24 hours).
• Complete DB check sheets, installation reports, snag sheets and earth bar checks.
• Manage and update project schematics (lockable frame) and Gateway tracker entries.
• Issue inspection reports, snags and non-compliances to the project team and monitor close-out.
• Assist in providing information for NICEIC completion certification.
• Review and advise on required updates to project ITPs.
Authorised Person (AP) & Safety Duties
• Carry out isolations, energisations, and associated documentation.
• Manage requests for power and isolations, ensuring correct paperwork is in place.
• Manage LOTO procedures in accordance with PME ESSW.
• Manage PME Key Procedure and support permit issue and RAMS review (under supervision of the project AP).
• Maintain security of areas under PME control.
• Verify torque settings and protective device settings against selectivity requirements.
• Check test instruments, leads and calibrations.
Coordination & Site Support
• Coordinate testing areas and review required handover information from CM.
• Assist specialist subcontractors when requested by PME management.
• Provide support and occasional supervision to up to 4 test operatives.
General Responsibilities
• Ensure all work is completed safely, accurately, and in line with programme deadlines.
• Work flexibly, including occasional out-of-hours, to meet project requirements
