About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our client delivering high-quality design & build fit-out projects across London. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates, supporting tender submissions, and ensuring profitability while maintaining client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Contract Estimating
Prepare detailed cost estimates for design & build fit-out projects, including materials, labour, and subcontractor packages.
Conduct quantity take-offs and analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
Develop cost plans and budgets during early design stages.
Tender Management
Lead the preparation of tender submissions and pricing strategies.
Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations.
Evaluate and negotiate subcontractor bids.
Value Engineering
Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or design intent.
Provide alternative solutions and recommendations to clients and design teams.
Risk & Compliance
Assess project risks and incorporate contingencies into estimates.
Ensure compliance with building regulations, health & safety standards, and company policies.
Collaboration
Work closely with project managers, designers, and commercial teams.
Attend client meetings to present and justify estimates.
Reporting
Maintain accurate records of estimates, tender outcomes, and cost data for future benchmarking.
Required Skills & Experience
Experience: Minimum 5+ years in estimating, with at least 3 years in design & build fit-out projects.
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction methods, fit-out materials, and building regulations.
Software Proficiency: Advanced skills in Excel, estimating software (e.g., Causeway, Cubit, or similar), and familiarity with AutoCAD or Bluebeam.
Analytical Skills: Excellent numerical ability and attention to detail.
Communication: Strong negotiation and presentation skills.
Commercial Awareness: Ability to manage budgets and deliver profitable outcomes.
