A highways project near Howden is seeking an experienced Working Supervisor to support the safe and efficient delivery of earthworks and groundworks operations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is hands-on, proactive, and confident leading teams while also working on the tools when required.

The Role

As a Working Supervisor, you will lead and coordinate daily site activities, ensuring work is carried out safely, to specification, and on programme. You will work closely with site teams, plant operators, and management to maintain high standards of productivity, quality, and safety. The role will involve both supervisory duties and practical involvement in groundworks and earthworks operations.

Key Responsibilities

You will oversee and support the delivery of all onsite works, ensuring compliance with safety procedures and project requirements. Daily tasks include supervising operatives, assisting with earthworks and groundworks activities, coordinating plant and materials, completing site documentation, and maintaining high levels of communication with management. You will also ensure safe systems of work are implemented and adhered to at all times.

About You

To succeed in this role, you must hold SSSTS and relevant plant operator tickets. Strong experience in both earthworks and groundworks is essential. You should be able to lead by example, communicate effectively, and maintain strong working relationships with operatives and site management. The ideal candidate is reliable, safety-focused, and comfortable taking an active hands-on role when needed.
