Senior Quantity Surveyor, Dublin – Utilities Programme
£60,000 to £80,000 + car & package
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading cost consultancy who have been tasked with supporting a major utilities provider in Dublin. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for supporting the client with a number of projects ranging in value and complexity from main upgrades and water main replacements through to upgrades to assets including wastewater treatment sites and utility diversions.
Role Overview
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be joining the consultancy's commercial team and operating on secondment within a large utilities delivery environment. The position requires uncompromising commercial governance, structured reporting, and continuous evaluation of risk, opportunity, and value. Full-cycle commercial ownership is expected.
Key Responsibilities
Identify commercial exposure and opportunity; implement value engineering actions.
Build and manage procurement schedules.
Enforce contractual compliance through disciplined records, notices, and change processes.
Produce cost and value reporting for senior management.
Maintain risk, variation, and EOT tracking and integrate into monthly submissions.
Prepare and interrogate project cost reporting.
Present commercial positions at monthly management reviews.
Lead subcontract procurement and ongoing account management.
Coordinate daily with accounts; validate supplier requisitions and invoices.
Review and update subcontract documentation, payment certificates, and templates.
Measure, price, negotiate, and agree variation allowances.
Verify project costs and close out discrepancies.
Manage commercial and contractual interfaces with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
Assess entitlement and administer payments.
Reconcile cost-to-value and forecast performance.
Mentor junior surveyors and support capability development.
Essential Requirements
Background in civils, drainage, or utilities (water or electricity).
Minimum 8 years' Quantity Surveying experience in construction or utilities.
Degree or recognised professional qualification in Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management.
Strong command of Microsoft Office.
Full clean driving licence.
