Design Manager – Cambridge

I am looking to speak with experienced Design Manager to join a growing team in Cambridge. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of design coordination across a variety of impactful projects, including those within the Department for Education (DfE) sector.

While DfE project experience is highly desirable, it is not essential—I am still looking for strong design managers with a background in construction, architecture, engineering, or similar disciplines who are eager to diversify their project portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the design process through pre-construction and delivery phases

Coordinate internal teams, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure design information is delivered on time and to the required standard

Oversee design reviews, risk management, and technical compliance

Work closely with the project team to ensure buildability, cost efficiency, and programme alignment

Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies as required

Support value engineering and design optimisation strategies

About You

Proven experience as a Design Manager within the construction or built environment sector

Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills

Ability to manage multiple design packages and stakeholders simultaneously

Working knowledge of relevant building regulations and design processes

DfE experience is advantageous but not mandatory

You must be based in the Cambridge area or within a commutable distance to be considered
