Summary
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Site Works Manager to oversee and manage site-based personnel, including tradespersons and engineers, across multiple military barracks locations. This role focuses on delivering reactive and remedial maintenance works as well as managing small-scale billable projects up to the value of £100K. The successful candidate will lead a self-delivery team of site engineers, ensuring the efficient and safe execution of facilities management (FM) works in a military environment. A strong team player with excellent attention to detail, the Site Works Manager will support the delivery of contracted FM services, maintaining high standards of health and safety, compliance, and quality. The role requires commercial awareness, technical aptitude, and the ability to manage multiple small projects concurrently while fostering positive team dynamics.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and supervise site-based engineers and tradespersons across multiple barracks locations.
Plan, coordinate, and deliver reactive, remedial, and small-scale project works up to £100K.
Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, including CDM regulations.
Maintain high standards of quality, safety, and contract compliance in a military environment.
Support and promote a collaborative, team-focused working culture.
Monitor project budgets, schedules, and resources to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and supply chain partners to maintain effective communication and service delivery.
Conduct risk assessments, method statements, and site inspections to uphold safety and quality standards.
Skills

Facilities management experience with a focus on small-scale project delivery.
Proven ability to manage site-based personnel, including engineers and tradespersons.
Strong knowledge of health & safety and CDM regulations.
SMSTS certification or equivalent site management safety training.
Commercial understanding related to project budgeting and cost control.
Technically astute with a background or experience in engineering or technical disciplines.
Experience managing projects up to £100K in value.
Excellent team leadership and interpersonal skills.
Attention to detail and strong organisational abilities.
Ability to work effectively within a military or secure environment.
Certifications & Standards

SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) – essential
Health & Safety and CDM compliance knowledge – essential
Security vetting clearance – mandatory for all applicants
First Aid qualification (desirable)
