Senior Tekla Draughtsman

We are seeking an experienced Tekla Draughtsman / Design Manager to join our client in Hatfield. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled individual who is ready to take ownership of both in-house design work and the management of external subcontract designers. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and eventually leading our in-house design team as the business grows.

Key Responsibilities

Produce accurate and detailed 3D models and fabrication drawings using Tekla Structures.
Manage and coordinate work from subcontract designers to ensure quality and consistency.
Oversee design schedules and deliverables to meet project deadlines.
Work closely with project managers, engineers, and fabrication teams to resolve design and technical queries.
Maintain drawing standards and implement best practices within the design department.
Support the future development of an internal design team, providing mentorship and leadership as the department expands.Requirements

Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience using Tekla Structures.
Strong understanding of structural steelwork design and detailing.
Proven ability to manage subcontract or external design teams.
Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
Ability to work full-time (5 days per week).Desirable

Previous experience leading or mentoring a design team.
Familiarity with fabrication and erection processes for structural steel.
