Salary: £60,000 per annum
Role Purpose
The Quantity Surveyor will act as the Company’s Commercial Representative and serve as the primary point of contact to the Client for all commercial and contractual matters. The postholder will ensure robust commercial management, contract compliance, and accurate financial control across all project phases.
This role operates in close collaboration with the Lead Project Manager to maintain coverage and continuity of key commercial and contractual functions, including the use of CEMAR for contract administration. The successful candidate will play a central role in protecting the commercial interests of the Contractor while fostering a transparent and cooperative relationship with the Client.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the principal commercial and contractual contact for the Client.
Administer contracts in accordance with NEC (New Engineering Contract) principles and procedures.
Manage and maintain CEMAR records, including early warnings, compensation events, and communications.
Support the Project Manager in commercial decision-making and project risk management.
Prepare, submit, and negotiate valuations, change requests, and final accounts.
Provide accurate cost forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting.
Monitor subcontractor performance, valuations, and payments.
Ensure all project activities are compliant with contractual, legal, and company requirements.
Assist in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
Provide commercial cover and support for holidays or absence within the project management team.
Qualifications & Experience
Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a commercial role on NEC Contracts (essential).
Strong working knowledge of CEMAR or equivalent contract management systems.
Demonstrable experience managing commercial elements of large infrastructure, civil engineering, or demolition projects.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
Member of, or working towards membership of, a recognised professional body (e.g., RICS, ICES, CIOB) — desirable.

Additional Information
The role may require travel to project sites or client offices. Flexibility in working arrangements is expected to ensure continuity of commercial management coverage at all times
