The Role

* As Quality Engineer, you will have strong experience in residential groundworks, with a solid understanding of both housing plot works and roads & sewers infrastructure.

* In this role, you will carry out quality control inspections and ensure compliance with NHBC Standards, Building Regulations, and relevant legislation across all our regions.

* You will help develop and maintain a structured system for site checks, follow-ups, and continuous improvement.

* You will cover Oxford and West regions, so a lot of travel is involved. The Oxford region covers sites around Oxford, from Bicester to Basingstoke and the West Region covers sites around Birmingham, from Swindon to Stafford. Ideally you will be based between these regions.

* Ideally looking for someone with 4 to 5 years on the ground as an Engineer or with some experience as a Quality Engineer. The first 3 months of the role will be a training period, so no direct quality engineer experience is required – however is desirable.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

* Conduct quality inspections on existing sites during Stage 1 and Stage 2 works.

* Provide technical expertise, advice, and guidance on residential construction and groundworks.

* Ensure handovers meet NHBC Standards, Building Regulations, and all other legislative requirements.

* Carry out inspections covering (but not limited to): Foundations, Internal & External Plot Drainage, Roads & Sewers, External Levels, Services, Substructure & Blockwork, Floor/Slab Construction, Retaining Walls.

* Identify and prevent potential issues or abortive works by ensuring construction meets company standards.

* Provide constructive feedback to Site Managers and Foremen to continuously improve site performance and knowledge.

* Work closely with the Technical Team to coordinate checks and identify sites requiring further investigation.

Requirements

* Experience working on residential sites, ideally within groundworks, housing infrastructure, and/or roads & sewers.

* Strong working knowledge of NHBC Standards, guidelines, and Building Regulations.

* Solid understanding of groundworks processes, housing construction, and site operations.

* Experience reviewing others’ work and providing clear, actionable feedback.

* Excellent communication skills.

* Highly organised with a strong eye for detail.

* Professional, proactive, and driven to continually improve quality standards.

* Ability to learn new processes and work under your own initiative.

* Full UK Driving Licence.

* Valid CSCS card.
