Health & Safety Manager

Lead a proactive safety culture across a growing M&E contractor.
We’re working with a well-established mechanical and electrical services provider in Wigan to recruit a full-time, permanent Health & Safety Manager. This is a hands-on leadership role that will suit someone with strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the confidence to embed safe working practices across live projects.

What You’ll Be Doing

Leading the development of RAMS, WPPs, COSHH assessments, toolbox talks, and other documentation
*
Carrying out planned and reactive site audits across multiple projects
*
Driving behavioural safety and coaching site teams on best practice
*
Ensuring full compliance with CDM 2015, Building Safety Act 2022, and internal processes
*
Leading accident investigations and preparing root cause analysis reports
*
Managing training records and coordinating external courses
*
Verifying subcontractor compliance, documentation, and site conduct
*
Producing monthly safety reports and recommending process improvements
Skills & Experience Required
Essential:
*
NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum)
*
Experience within M&E, building services or general construction
*
Sound knowledge of CDM 2015 and BSA 2022
*
Strong auditing and incident investigation experience
*
Confident communicator with the ability to coach and lead
*
Competent writing RAMS, WPPs, COSHH assessments
*
Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
*
NEBOSH Construction Certificate or higher
*
TechIOSH / GradIOSH (or working towards CMIOSH)
*
Fire safety knowledge (compartmentation, inspections, IFE certs)
*
Familiarity with systems like SharePoint, ACC, Fieldview, or PowerBI
