Our client is a well-established residential groundworks contractor, specialising in infrastructure civils, earthworks, and plot groundworks. They are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join their team based in Sheffield.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional with a strong background in Quantity Surveying within the groundworks industry to contribute to a reputable contractor known for delivering high-quality residential and infrastructure projects. Known for our strong client relationships, technical expertise and long-term stability, we're now looking to strengthen our commercial team.

The Role

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in the commercial management of multiple residential civil engineering projects across Sheffield and surrounding areas. You'll lead on all surveying activities – from initial pricing and procurement through to cost control, forecasting and final accounts.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage the commercial aspects of groundworks and residential infrastructure projects
Prepare bills of quantities, estimates and tender submissions
Lead subcontractor procurement, negotiation and contract administration
Monitor and report on project costs, forecasts and profitability
Undertake valuations, variations and final accounts
Provide commercial guidance to project teams and maintain strong client relationships
Ensure compliance with company procedures, industry standards and contractual obligationsAbout You:

Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior QS within civil engineering or residential groundworks
Strong understanding of NEC/JCT contracts
Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills
Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects
Confident communicator and team collaborator
Degree-qualified (or equivalent experience) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or similar
