Trainee Quantity Surveyor (Passive Fire)

A leading specialist in passive fire protection—known for delivering high-quality, compliant solutions across complex construction environments—is seeking a Trainee Quantity Surveyor to join its Major Projects division. This organisation supports large-scale developments across the UK, providing services such as firestopping, compartmentation, structural fire protection and more.
The Role
As a Trainee Quantity Surveyor, you will support commercial management across significant construction projects, working closely with senior commercial staff to maintain cost control, valuations, procurement, and project reporting. The projects you’ll work on are substantial, technically challenging schemes where passive fire protection is critical to overall safety and compliance. This position is initially fully office-based (5 days a week) in Southwark, offering valuable exposure and development. Hybrid working will become available as you grow into the role.
Key Responsibilities
* Assisting with cost management, valuations, and financial reporting across major fire protection packages
* Supporting procurement, subcontractor management and tender processes
* Monitoring project progress, variations, and commercial risks
* Collating documentation relating to firestopping, compartmentation and associated disciplines
* Working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure commercial accuracy and compliance
About You
* Minimum 18 months experience working with a fire protection specialist
* Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
* Eager to develop within a specialist, growing Major Projects team
* Confident communicator with the ability to work collaboratively
