Your new role

Our client is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in Bolton. You will take ownership of a diverse range of projects across housing, refurbishment, and public-sector works, ensuring financial control, cost management, and commercial success from inception to final account. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a supportive, collaborative environment and wants to progress within a well-structured commercial department.

Responsibilities will include:

Managing all commercial and cost-related aspects of assigned projects across pre-construction, delivery, and final account stages.

Preparing valuations, cost forecasts, reports, and monthly commercial summaries.

Procuring materials and subcontract packages, reviewing tenders, and negotiating terms.

Monitoring site progress, assessing variations, and producing detailed cost plans.

Managing contractual documentation, ensuring compliance with company processes and client frameworks.

Working closely with operational teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to a high standard.

Maintaining excellent client relationships and representing the commercial team professionally.

Supporting junior members of the team where required and contributing to continuous improvement in commercial practices.

What you will need to succeed:

Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor or developer environment.

Strong commercial awareness with a track record of successfully managing projects from start to finish.

Knowledge of traditional build, housing, refurbishment, or public-sector frameworks is highly beneficial.

Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.

Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team culture.

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

A relevant degree or equivalent qualification (Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management).
