MMP Consultancy currently have an opportunity for a Head of Compliance and Building Safety to join a housing association based in Islington, North London. My client has a portfolio across London and the South East.
My client can offer hybrid working with an expectation of 2 days p/w in the offices.
My client is offering a salary of £65,000p/a + Benefits.
Job Overview:
The Head of Compliance and Building Safety will lead the strategic management and operational delivery of my clients compliance functions, encompassing Building Safety, Fire Safety, Gas Safety, Water Hygiene, Lift Safety, Electrical Safety, and Asbestos Management. This role ensures that all statutory and regulatory obligations are met with excellence, and that services are delivered to the highest standards of quality, value, and customer satisfaction.
The Head of Compliance and Building Safety will lead the procurement and delivery of compliance inspections, testing, and remedial work programmes, ensuring timely, high-quality outcomes. Maintain strong contractor relationships, monitor performance, and uphold robust data management and transparent reporting practices.

Lead, develop and coach the Compliance and Building Safety team to deliver high-quality, customer-focused services.
Oversee statutory compliance across building safety, fire, gas, water hygiene, lifts, electrical systems, and asbestos.
Manage service contracts and remedial works, ensuring value for money, regulatory compliance, and minimal disruption to residents.
Act as the lead reporting officer to external bodies including the Regulator of Social Housing and MHCLG.
Develop and implement policies and inspection programmes aligned with the Building Safety Act and other legislation.
Monitor contractor performance, resolve disputes, and ensure health and safety standards are met across all sites, working in collaboration to manage the quality of all fire remedial works completed by external contractors.
Manage budgets, procurement, and contract delivery, ensuring financial accountability risk management, and service excellence so programmes are delivered on time and within budget.
Promote safeguarding, equality, and data protection across all compliance activities.
Collaborate with internal teams, residents, and external stakeholders to ensure safe, compliant, and well-maintained homes.
Co-ordinate programmes with repair, planned works and compliance teams to ensure maximum cost effectiveness and minimum disruption to customers
Act as the subject matter expert for compliance and building safety advice to colleagues and external support stakeholders.
Lead and inspire teams to deliver high-performing, and customer-focused building safety services.
Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and professional development.
Engage effectively with residents, stakeholders, and partners to shape inclusive, responsive service delivery.
Manage performance, reporting, and statutory duties to support strategy and audit readiness. Deliver regular building safety and compliance updates to Committees/Board.
Promote a culture of safety, wellbeing, equality, and safeguarding throughout the service.
Represent my client at internal and external forums and deputise for senior leaders as required.
Chair and lead compliance and fire safety meetings with both internal and external stakeholders.
To provide comprehensive professional design, detailing and contract administration on services on a diverse range of commissions for my client when needed, fully utilising IT support systems.
Ensure teams are kept updated and adhere to legislative, contractual, policy and process changes affecting their areas of work
Maintain efficient records for programme monitoring and control.
Oversee planning and programming of compliance capital works including contributing to the organisations 5/30 business plan.
Support the scoping and specifying of all relevant statutory compliance contracts in conjunction with procurement colleagues, ensuring contracts include clear quality and performance standards and measurement requirements for the Group to support effective contract management and service improvement.
